Jersey Cows
Marie
Marie is a registered A2A2 Jersey Cow. She was the first cow to calve on our homestead, and the proud mama of Dougie. Marie birthed completely unassisted in a picture perfect calving. She has been an excellent mom.
Marie is our family milk cow. She supplies our family with delicious raw A2A2 milk, which we turn into all our family dairy products. She is QUEEN of the homestead.
Marie is currently in milk and open. She will be breed back in January 2023, and should calf in Fall 2023.
All of our cows are grassfed, and holistically cared for.
We calf share, as we work to keep our homestead as close in line with nature as we can. So Marie gets to spend her time with her sweet baby boy.
Goldie
Goldie was our first Jersey cow, and thus, has our hearts. She is two years old, and due to calf in May 2023.
We had Goldie artificially inseminated with sexed semen. This means we should expect a heifer calf from her! We are breeding for grassfed genetics and long teets, so her baby will be an ideal family milk cow. Goldie is also A2, but carries a specific protein that should mean that she will have a very high butterfat, which means she will be our cream and cheese champion!
Goldie has taken to Dougie, and can often be found taking care of him to give Marie a break. We think she will make an excellent nurse cow on our homestead in the future.
Dougie
Dougie was born is September of 2022 on our homestead. He is an intact bull, and thus, will not remain on our homestead forever.
We hope to find Dougie a home where he can father lots of future family milk cows.
He is a registered A2A2 jersey bull, with excellent genetics.
